Merle Wall, 88, of Rogers, Ark., formerly of Windom, died May 27, 2018, at Innisfree Long Term Care Home in Rogers.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Friday at 3 p.m., at LaCanne Family Funeral Home in Windom with Pastor Scott Bartholomew officiating.
Special music will be provided by Ivan and Delores Flaming.
Casket bearers will be Philip and Karen Wall, Pamela Anderson, Stanley Lohrenz and Brian and Carol Harder.
A private family burial will be held at the Delft Cemetery in Delft.
Visitation will precede the service on Friday from 2 to 3 p.m., at the funeral home.
LaCanne Family Funeral Service of Windom is handling the funeral arrangements.
Merle Wall was born July 11, 1929, to Frederick and Anna (Falk) Wall in Mt. Lake. He graduated from Bingham Lake High School, where he enjoyed playing football and especially basketball.
In 1952, Merle married Bernice Lohrenz in Mt. Lake. They were blessed with a son, Philip, and a daughter, Pamela.
Merle served in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954, after which he and Bernice spent the next 43 years farming outside of Bingham Lake.
They retired from farming in 1997 and moved to Windom, where they lived for 20 years.
Merle and Bernice moved to Bella Vista, Ark., in 2017 to be with their daughter, Pamela and son-in-law, Rory Anderson.
Merle took his first flying lesson at age 55 and went on to become a pilot, flying his own plane until he was 80 years old. He also enjoyed biking every day the weather allowed, taking long walks, fishing and traveling with Bernice, attending church and reading.
Merle was devoted to the Lord and his family.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Delbert and Milton; and a sister-in-law, Carol.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Bernice of Bella Vista, Ark.; son, Philip (Karen) Wall of Nescopeck, Pa.; daughter, Pamela (Rory) Anderson of Bella Vista, Ark.; one grandchild; one great-grandchild; a sibling, Frederick (Sharon) Wall of Glenwood, Colo.; and a sister-in-law, Janna of Minneapolis.
