Wayne D. Ebeling
Wayne "Bones" D. Ebeling, 76, of Windom died March 22, 2018, at Good Samaritan Society-Pleasantview in St. James, following a lengthy battle with liver and bone cancer.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday at 11:30 a.m., at Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Windom with Pastor Paul Sajban officiating.
A private family burial will be held at a later date at Cedar Lutheran Cemetery in Trimont.
Visitation will be held Saturday from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., at the church in Windom.
Wayne David Ebeling was born Dec. 16, 1941, to Alfred P. and Mabel L. (Hilken) Ebeling in Triumph. He was baptized and later confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Trimont.
He received his education in Triumph Public School, graduating from Trimont High School in 1960.
After graduation, he was employed with Hodgeman Road Construction of Fairmont for nine years. He moved to Windom where he worked for the Minnesota State Highway Department for 36 years. He worked as a highway maintenance worker for 16 years, a sign-maker for 14 years and worked in the inventory department for six years before retiring in 2003.
In 1968, Wayne married Linda M. Anderson of Jackson, formerly of Welcome, at Salem Lutheran Church in Jackson.
In 1972, they joined American Lutheran Church in Windom, then transferred their membership to Lutheran Church of Our Savior in 1988.
Wayne was a member of the Sun Valley Gun Club and served as its president for several years in the early 1990s. He enjoyed trapshooting at the Sun Valley Club and other area clubs, and also participated, with teammates, in tournament shoots in Montana and Canada. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing and fox hunting.
He also was a dog-lover - black Labradors, in particular.
The son of a carpenter, Wayne also enjoyed working with wood.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his father-in-law, Bernhard R. Anderson; a brother, Roger (Donna) Ebeling; and a nephew, Grant Lyon.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Linda Ebeling of Windom; sons, Brian (Sarah) Ebeling of Henning and Scott (Syd) Ebeling of Westbrook; a daughter, Susan Ebeling of Windom; five grandchildren; mother-in-law, Arlene Anderson of Temperance Lake in Sherburn; sisters-in-law, Debbie (Tim) Miller of New Prague and Lori (Mike) Lyon of St. Joseph; and brother-in-law, Larry (Sue) Anderson of Jackson.
