It couldn't have been better

Rick Frederickson
Computer Technician

This is my last column for iCitizen. I will soon be starting as a pastor at Springfield United Methodist Church. We are moving there, as God has called me to give up my job and life here and move on to minister to the people of Springfield. It's an exciting move and one that Sue and I are ready to undertake with joy. I don't know if I am totally equipped, but there is a saying that God doesn't call the equipped, He equips the called. I have complete faith that this is true.
I'd be lying if I didn't say Sue and I are doing a lot of grieving as well. We will be leaving our church and community which has been a part of our lives for a very long time - in Sue's case her entire life. I am leaving my job at the Citizen after 23 years. The Anderson and Slette families have been tremendously kind to me over the years. My fellow employees are like family. I am leaving the school board and education, a passion of mine, after many years. I will miss all of you tremendously. Fortunately, there is a healing balm in the Lord that will continue to comfort us and give us peace.
We are not cutting all ties to Windom. After all, Springfield is only 35 miles away. Sue will continue to work at the Citizen and we will keep our house here for the time being. We also have many good friends here.
I'm also very proud of the two outstanding young men who have been my co-workers at iCitizen. Cory and Luke are both small-town guys. They understand relationships and the importance of customer service. And the two of them have as much or more knowledge of computers and IT than I do. Yes, I'm leaving iCitizen in very good hands. They will be adding someone to replace me as well.
I've reflected and shed a lot of tears recently over saying goodbye. So, I won't say, "Goodbye." I will just say, "See you around." It just couldn't have been any better. God bless you.
