State golf meet wraps up

Class AA State Golf Meet
Two Windom Eagle golfers wrapped up the season Wednesday with the second round of the Class AA State Meet, held at the Ridges at Sand Creek near Jordan.

In the girls tournament, junior Paige Pigman shot a 92 on the second day of the tournament after carding a 95 on day one. That gave her a two-day total of 187, which put her into a tie for 59th place, individually.

Red Wing junior Sophia Yoemans shot an incredible two-day score of 15-under-par 129 to win the individual state title.

Detroit Lakes won the team championship with a two-day score of 638. Section 3AA champion Marshall was the state runner-up, shooting a 664.

For the boys, junior Tylan Porath finished day two with a 91 after shooting a 90 on the opening day of the tournament. His score of 181 put him in 79th place, individually.

East Grand Forks senior Nate Deziel finished the tournament with a seven-under-par 137 to win the individual state title.

Holy Family Catholic won the team title, shooting a two-day total of 600. Section 3AA champion Worthington finished eighth with a score of 693.

Class A State Golf Meet
Westbrook-Walnut Grove junior Andrew Quade shot a 92 on the second day of the Class A State Meet, which was held at Pebble Creek in Becker.

Quade finished the tourney with a two-day total of 179, which put him in 53rd place, individually.

Sleepy Eye senior Ben Laffen shot an even-par 144 for the two-day tournament, winning the boys individual state championship. Sleepy Eye and Mounds Park Academy finished as co-state champions, each with a two-day total of 641. Section 3A champion Murray County Central finished seventh with a 726.

For the girls, Lac Qui Parle Valley sophomore Rachel Halvorson shot a two-day score of 155 to win the individual state title by a single stroke. Lac Qui Parle Valley also won the team title by a single stroke, shooting a two-day score of 714. Section 3A champion Murray County Central finished sixth with a 781.
