Section 3AA Tournament Two members of the Windom Eagle golf team qualified for the Class AA State Golf Meet following Tuesday's second day of the Section 3AA Tournament, played at Oakdale Golf Club near Buffalo Lake.
For the Eagle boys, junior Tylan Porath advanced to the state tournament for the fourth straight year after shooting a second-day score of 79. That gave him a two-day total of 154, putting him in sixth place, individually. Porath opened Tuesday's second round with a 41 on the front nine, but bounced back with a 38 on the back nine to clinch a state trip.
For the girls, junior Paige Pigman advanced to the state tournament for the third straight year after firing an 81 on the second day of the tournament, giving her a two-day total of 168. That put her in a tie for eighth-place, individually, and gave her the final individual qualifying spot from the section.
Freshman Allie Ward shot a second-day score of 105, finishing the tournament with a two-day total of 203. That put her in a tie for 39th place.
For the boys, freshman Parker Alvstad shot a second-day score of 95, giving him a two-day total of 181. That was good for 32nd place.
Section 2A Tournament The Mt. Lake Area-Comfrey boys golf team finished in 12th place and did not have any individuals advance to the second day of the Section 2A Tournament following Tuesday's opening round, held at North Links in Mankato.
The Wolverines shot a team score of 422. The top four teams advanced in their entirety to the team portion of the second day of the tournament, which will be held Monday at North Links.
MLAC was led by Ryan Pedersen, who finished the day with a 99. That put him six strokes off the cut for the final individual qualifying spot for the second day of the tournament.
Maleek Stewart scored a 103, followed by Brodie Freeman with a 109 and Dima Hanson with a 111. Junior Louangsaphakdy shot a 117 and Thomas Regier scored a 127.
