Two Eagles advance to day two in Section 3AA girls golf

Section 3AA Tournament
The Windom girls golf team finished in ninth place and will not advance as a team to the second day of the Section 3AA Tournament.

Windom finished in a three-way tie for ninth, scoring a 391. Five teams advance in whole to the second day of the tournament. Marshall was the first day team leader, shooting a 318.

Individually, Madi McGinty of Minnewaska Area was the first day leader, shooting a four-under-par 68.

Windom has two individuals advancing to the second day of the tournament. Paige Pigman enters day two in 14th place after shooting an 87. Allie Ward advanced to the second day of the tournament with a 98.

Lily Mellstrom scored a 100. Madilyn Hogan and Sophia Nelson each scored a 106. Josie Alvstad finished with a 122.

Section 3A Tournament
Westbrook-Walnut Grove's boys advanced to the second day of the Section 3A Golf Tournament after finishing fourth on the first day of the tournament.

WWG shot a 404 to advance. Murray County Central enters the second day in the lead after shooting a 372. RRC finished ninth with a 466.

For the boys, MCC's Jack Pierson was the first-day leader, shooting an 81.

WWG's Andrew Quade finished day one in third place, firing a 92. Anthony Ross was tied for sixth with a 96. Nathan Kuehl shot a 106 and Nathan Ross had a 110.

Cade Bittner led RRC with a 105 and did not advance to day two. Justin Klabunde shot a 116, followed by Tyler Horning with a 119 and Sam Dammann with a 126.

For the girls, Murray County Central has the lead after the first day, shooting a 400. Westbrook-Walnut Grove shot a 462 to finish fifth and did not advance as a team. RRC placed sixth with a 497.

Individually, MCC's Abby Hamman was the first-day leader, shooting an 82.

WWG has two individual day two qualifiers. Brittany Erickson finished the first day in third place overall with a 98. Halle Steen finished with a 113 to advance.

Lexi Herding shot a 120, followed by Emma Wahl and Ivy Paplow with 131s. Madison Dennistoun shot a 149.

RRC also has two individual day two qualifiers. Carley Baumann enters day two in fifth place after shooting a 103. Abby Meier shot a 113 to advance.

Bailey Timm shot a 130 and Carlee Sell finished with a 151.
