Defries is first-time winner
in State Cribbage Tourney
Lenis Defries (center) has been playing in the State Cribbage Tournament during Riverfest for the past "10 or 12 years," he says, but 2018 marked the first time he walked away with the title.
Defries received the handmade Riverfest Cribbage Champion cribbage board for taking the top spot.
Meanwhile, Joe Koch (left), who is a five-time winner of the annual combination board/card game finished second, just one point ahead of third-place finisher Marlow Jurgens (right).
A total of 14 people played in this year's tournament, including three generations of one family. Joining Joe Koch at the tournament were his son, Joe Jr., and his 9-year-old granddaughter (Joe Jr.'s daughter), Ashlyn, who was the youngest player in the tournament.
