6/12/2018 8:46:00 AM Klassen appointed to school board
The Windom school board will have a new member sworn in during the July regular meeting.
At Monday's meeting, the board appointed Angie Klassen to fill the remaining term of Rick Frederickson, who resigned from the board last month.
The seat is one of three that will be up for election in November. The others are currently held by Don Brugman and board chair Joan Hunter.
Klassen was one of three applicants to fill the vacancy on the board. Jill Ackermann and Bruce Mews were the other applicants.
Klassen was active in the community-based committee that developed the proposal for the recently-passed building referendum. She indicated Monday night that she would likely file for election to the board when the filing period opens.
The board did figure to have some turnover with the November election, though. The board approved July 31 through Aug. 14 as the filing period for school board candidates. During the meeting, Hunter stated that she did not intend to file for re-election to the board.
