Farmers expect to be in the fields this week

It has been an agonizingly long wait, but it appears area farmers are heading back to the soybean fields very shortly.

A late-maturing crop, followed by steady September and October rains, have pushed the harvest to this week.

On Monday, a handful of producers in the area tried combining soybeans. However, conditions were less than ideal.

This week's drier and sunnier weather has helped to dry down area soybean fields significantly. For much more on this story, including insight from an area agronomist, see the Oct. 11 Cottonwood County Citizen and Citizen eEdition.
