Mt. Lake woman celebrates 112th birthday
For Lena Dick each year is special and precious but also marked by a significant achievement.
Family and friends gathered at the Good Samaritan Village of Mt. Lake on Saturday to celebrate Lena Dick's 112th birthday. This milestone makes her the oldest person in Minnesota, the eighth oldest in the nation and the forty-ninth oldest (recorded births) worldwide. It also maintains her status as a supercentenarian, people who have attained the age of at least 110.
Lena was born on Aug. 5, 1905, at home. She attended Mt. Lake Christian School-the Deutsche Schule (German school). Lena married Jacob L. Dick on April 26, 1934. They had three children-son, Alvin, who passed in 2015, daughter, Dorothy and son, Willard. Her family now includes eight grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
