Walnut Grove will celebrate the 40th anniversary of its Fragments of a Dream pageant, retelling the tales of Laura Ingalls Wilder during her childhood years in Walnut Grove, beginning tonight.
The opening show of the pageant will be performed at 9 p.m. at the pageant site, located just west of Walnut Grove.
The pageant will run on Fridays and Saturdays through July 29.
There is also a full slate of activity planned in Walnut Grove during the day Saturday, as the city hosts its Family Festival as part of the pageant's opening weekend. The festival features the Laura and Nellie Look-Alike contest, held at 3 p.m. on each pageant Saturday.
There will also be a special celebration Saturday at the Wilder Museum, commemorating the 150th birthday of Laura Ingalls Wilder.
