Windom 23-18 = 41 Fairmont 26-32 = 58 Free throws were the difference Friday night as Fairmont pulled away for a 58-41 win over the Windom boys basketball team at Fairmont.
The Cardinals held a three-point halftime lead, but sealed the game in the second half from the free throw line. Fairmont went 28-of-38 from the stripe for the game, compared to 5-of-11 for the Eagles.
Eric Pfeffer led the Eagles with 10 points. Luke Gilbertson scored nine.
RRC 20-28 = 48 Lakeview 27-30 = 57 Red Rock Central struggled to make up ground in a slow-paced game Saturday, falling 57-48 to Lakeview at Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall.
Lakeview held a seven-point halftime lead and sealed the win by crashing the offensive glass. The Lakers grabbed 14 offensive rebounds and outrebounded the Falcons 31-18 for the game.
Brady Rasmussen led RRC with 23 points. Spencer Halland added 11 points in the loss.
WWG 39-41 = 80 Adrian 38-34 = 72 Westbrook-Walnut Grove maintained its lead in the Red Rock Conference standings, claiming its 14th straight victory with an 80-72 decision Friday at Adrian.
The Chargers led by one at halftime but sealed the win from the free throw line in the second half, hitting 10-of-11 from the stripe.
Five Chargers scored in double figures, led by Anthony Ross, Andrew Quade and Parker Freeburg with 16 points each. Tyson Elzenga added 13 points and Kyle Kuehl scored 10.
HBC 36-30 = 66 MLA 27-40 = 67 Mt. Lake Area rallied from an 11-point deficit with six minutes to go to steal a 67-66 victory over Hills-Beaver Creek Friday in Mt. Lake.
HBC led by nine at halftime. After MLA trailed by single-digits much of the second half, the Patriots stretched the lead to 59-48 with six minutes to go.
But the Wolverines battled back, tying the game on a Drake Harder lay-up. Marcus Boyd hit two free throws to give the Wolverines the lead and Weston Osland hit a pair of free throws to seal the win.
Harder led the Wolverines with 16 points. Osland scored 13 and Boyd added 12 in the victory.
RRC 30-37 = 67 Ellsworth 11-10 = 21 Red Rock Central's defense was sharp Friday night, forcing 25 turnovers in a 67-21 victory at Ellsworth.
The Falcons held the Panthers to eight made field goals for the game and turned 14 steals into fast-break scoring chances.
Brady Rasmussen led the Falcons with 23 points. Spencer Halland, Noah Stavnes and Garrett Marsh each added eight points in the win.
